MUNICIPAL LIBRARY (Biblioteca Comunale)
HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION
The headquarters of the Municipal Library in Via Cantorrivo, housed in the former public wash house dating back to the nineteenth century, thanks to the particular modern architecture characterized by large windows, is also very attractive for the heritage it contains, almost twenty thousand volumes and a large documentary kit that manages to serve a wide range of users. The Library in its intentions has adherence to the territory and particular attention to its naturalistic riches, think of the Monte Rufeno Reserve and the Flower Museum. It is also a participant in the feast of the Pugnaloni preserving a very interesting photographic archive. From the patrimonial point of view, the Fabrizi and Casti funds, important personalities of the city of Acquapendente, are worth mentioning.
The primary role of the Acquesina Library is to promote reading and participation in the socio-cultural growth of a territory that is characterized by the careful search for activities consistent with the needs of users. The Municipality of Acquapendente is also the referent and coordinator of the Library System of Lake Bolsena, a further confirmation of the sensitivity to the logic of the district and the usability of the services. The libraries of the municipalities that gravitate around the lake had already experimented the cooperative formula in 1987 through a joint initiative on cultural and audiovisual activities, from the 1989-1991 Regional Sectoral Plan.
The Acquapendente Library is part of the Regional Library Organization and has had the recognition of the Lazio Region Quality Mark; it is the cataloging center in SBN, as well as the technical fulcrum of the library system and the librarianship reference of the other libraries.
