HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION
The rest home of San Giuseppe was born inside the premises of the building that was built by Ascanio Sforza in 1535, and which became the property of the Observant Friars Minor in 1617 who made it their convent. The complex has undergone numerous tampering over time, especially in the nineteenth century. In 1725 the entire building was destroyed by a fire. In 1818, a whole series of restorations were completed which made it possible to host the episcopal seminary in the building. The convent and church are now owned by the Municipality of Acquapendente and house the old people’s home dedicated to San Giuseppe. The San Giuseppe Nursing Home was born as an IPAB at the end of the nineteenth century, acquiring many years of experience in the field of assistance to self-sufficient and non-self-sufficient elderly people, equipped for both long hospital stays and short stays.
The mild climate, the rich and luxuriant natural landscape in which it is immersed and the geographical position make the Casa di San Giuseppe the ideal place to spend an optimal stay. Recently, the retirement home also houses a day center for people who have problems with social integration, through different activities, such as painting, writing and computer labs.
